Oshwal Centre, Potters Bar (London) : Potters Bar is a small town which is situated about 15 miles from London. Here, outside the town of Potters Bar, Oshwal community has bought 84 acres of land in 1980. Oshwal community has established a smal temple but plans have been approved to build a bigger Temple in future.

Manchester Jain Temple

 

 

 

Manchester Jain Temple - Jain Samaj Manchester has a big building for the temple and community events. Before 1972 The Jains in Manchester were a small community. In a short period numbers grew and soon there were about 105 families living in and around Manchester. In 1974 the local Jains decided to form an Association and a Constitution was drawn up and approved. In 1997 a place was bought. This was subsequently replaced by a new centre built at the same site. A grand opening ceremony was performed on Saturday 21st of September 2002. The magnificent marble temple was built and assembled by specialist craftsmen from India and the doors of the temple were opened on Sunday 20th of July 2003. The Jain Centre is governed by a constitution and managed by a Board of Directors consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, and committee members, who are elected by the JSM members on a yearly basis. Various activities at the Jain Centre are planned and organized by a number of sub-groups including Mahila Mandal, Youths, Social Committee, Religious committee etc. Today there are more than 175 families living in and around Manchester, and the community holds interesting programmes for its members and also helps other organisations in their religious, cultural and social activities.

Colindale Avenue Jain Temple, London

 

 


London, Colindale Avenue Jain Temple - The Jain community has acquired a spacious building at 64-68 Colindale Avenue, London NW9 5DR near the Colindale tube station, for the development of the Jain Centre to provide facilities for worship and study for all Jains. The present property, more than 12,000 sq feet built up area, has been refurbished to make it habitable and has beautifully carved wooden temple with semi structured idols (murtis) of Bhagwan (Lord) Parshvanath, Munisuvarat Swami and also Padmavati Mata, Community Hall, Seminar Room, Offices and ancillary facilities. The Network plans to demolish it in 2012 for a purpose built Jain Centre on ground + 2 floors, the ground and first floor for the community activities for Jains and wider public, and second floor as a place of worship for all the Jains.

Mahavir Swami Temple, Harrow

This is a very beautiful Digambar Jain Temple in Harrow. The main idol was consecrated in 2006. It has quotations from Digambar Shastras inscribed on the walls. The Mul-nayak is Mahavir Swami. The other murtis are:- Parshvanath Bhagvan, Aadinath Bhagvan, Manibhadra Dada and Padmavati Mataji. There is special room for the devotees of Shrimad Rajchandra.
