Dr. Hukam Chand Bharill, Shastri, Nyayatirtha, Sahitya Ratna, M.A., Ph. D. has earned wide name throughout the country as an erudite Jain scholar for reasons of his thorough study of Jain tenets, research work, preaching of Jainism and greatly developing the work of Todarmall Smarak Trust. He was born at Barudaswamy in district Lalitpur, U. P. Having worked in education institutions at Paroli (Rajasthan), Ashok Nagar and Indore (Madhya Pradesh), he is now for long managing the affairs of Pt. Todarmall Smarak Trust and is Registrar of Shri Vitrag Vjnan Vidyapith, Jaipur.

He has written 22 books, edited and partially written 4 books and edited two books, important of which are as under :-

Pandit Todarmal : Vyaktitava Aur Kntitva : Tirthankar Mahavir Aur Unka Sarvodaya Tirth (Hindi, Gujarati & Marathi) : Dharm Ke Dash Lakshan : Kramabaddha Paryaya (Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada) : Sarvodaya Tirtha; and Vitrag-Vigyan Prashikshan Nirdeshika.

The books are very useful for religious education to children and students. Translation of his various books in Gujrati, Marathi, Kannad, Tamil, Telgu, Assamese, English & Bengali languages and sale of more than 11 lakh books within a span of 10 years speak of the popularity of his literature which is very moderately priced. His interests are spiritual thinking, writing and giving philosophical speeches. He is easily understandable having lucid style of spiritual oratory. He is a lucid exponent of Jain philosophy. He has delivered lectures in almost all parts of the country and also in foreign countries.
