Koba Jain Tirth

 

 

Koba Jain Teerth is a Jain pilgrimage centre of Gujarat. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavira. Ancient rare manuscripts can be found here. Koba Jain Teerth is a Jain pilgrimage centre in the Indian state of Gujarat. The temple is located on the bank of the Sabarmati River on the Ahmedabad Gandhinagar high way. The principal deity of the temple is Lord Mahavira. According to history the Koba teerth was established in memory of His Holiness Acharyashri Kailas Sagarsuriji Maharaj Saheb. It was done under the guidance and inspiration of Acharyashri Padmasagarsuri Maharaj Saheb. On December 26, 1980 Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra was established here. Since the ancient times Koba Jain Teerth has proved to be an outstanding and admirable centre of propagation of spiritual knowledge, activities of religion and dissemination of religion. It is regarded as a perfect place for propitiation of dharma.

Temple of Koba Jain Teerth : The temple of Koba houses the idol of Lord Mahavira seated in a Padamasana posture. The idol is white in colour. The temple has been built intricately with magnificent architectural work. The temple consists of a cellar and has eleven different idols. The temple is adorned with striking pinnacles and high steps that the devotees need to climb to reach the temple. Other than the idol of Lord Mahavira, the temple also has idols of Manibhadravir Padmavati Devi and Bhagawan Adishver in the cellar. The temple of Koba is adorned with a huge entrance gate that resembles a god`s residence. On 22nd May every year the rays of the sun passes through the pinnacle. The sun rays falls on a particular mark of pigment on the forehead of the idol of Lord Mahavira. The idol shines like a diamond for reflection of the sun`s rays. Many devotees from far off places visit the temple to have a look at the idol on this particular day. Apart from this there are many other temples located here. The Gurumandir, Aradhana Bhavan and Gnanamandir have been constructed few years back. These are also visited by many devotees for its modern architectural work and new form of worship. The Gurumandir has been built in memory of His Holiness Kailas Sagar Surishvarji. It has been constructed on his funeral ground. The Gurumandir has been built in an artistic way with marble. It plans to carve the life events of Acharyashri with golden letters in the near future. Presently one can see foot images of Gurudev. The Aradhana Bhavan located close to Gurumandir has been constructed for spiritual pursuant. A lecture hall has also been made that has eighteen rooms. The Aradhana Bhavan houses more than two lakhs of ancient rare manuscripts. It is almost like a museum that has more than thousand priceless invaluable books written on palm-leaves. Besides these, there is a museum with very ancient specimens and books. The artistic models in this museum are the best artistic specimens of the period dating from 8th to 12th century. The Koba Jain Temple is thus an amusing place to visit that leaves the devotee with extraordinary experiences.

Koba Jain Temple is well connected to rail, road and air. The nearest railway station of Ahmedabad is at a distance of nearly 16 kilometres. The airport is at distance of 5 Kilometres. Bus service and private vehicles are also easily available.
