History says that a very large and high temple with 52 idols was built here in the year 1444 of the Vikram era. Maharaja Kumarpal built here a place named ‘Kumar Vihar’. There was a time when this was a very large city and thousands of Shavakas lived there. They made many attempts to uplift religion. ‘Shetrunjaya Teerthayatra’ sangha lead by the great merchant, Abha, in the year 1340 of the Vikram era, is very well known.
