Shri Banaras Tirth located at Uttar Pradesh is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha. There are many other Jain idols installed in the temple. Other than these there are some twelve Swetambara Jain temples. Shri Banaras Tirth located at Uttar Pradesh is a Jain pilgrimage centre. Tirth kshetra is situated in the Bhelupur Mohalla in the city of Varanasi. The city is located on the banks of the Ganga River and is regarded as an important pilgrimage centre by the Hindus and the Jains. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha.

History of Shri Banaras Tirth : According to history Shri Banaras Tirth dates back to the ancient times. The Tirth Kshetra is associated with four Kalyanakas of Lord Parshvanatha. As per Jain mythology this land is believed to have been the birth place of Lord Suparshavnatha. Chandrapuri and Simhapuri located in the vicinity of the temple has been the birth place of Lord Chandraprabha and Lord Shreyansanath. A total of 16 Kalyanakas has taken place here. The land is regarded to be very sacred as it has been the birth place of these famous religious saints. This place served as the capital city of the Malla kings during the times of Lord Mahavira. Many Jain temples were built here in the ancient times but they are now all in ruins. Information has been gathered about these temples by the researches of the Archaeological Department.

Temple of Shri Banaras Tirth : The temple of Shri Banaras Tirth houses the idol of Lord Parshvanatha. The temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate beautiful designs. The artistic temple work boast about the skills of the craftsmen. Apart from this there are many other Jain idols installed in the temple that look vary appealing. Other than these there are some twelve Swetambara Jain temples. It is said that Lord Parshvanatha and Lord Mahavira had propagated religious sermons here. The deity of Lord Parshvanatha is believed to possess great miraculous powers. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees from different places. It is said that by worshipping the Lord with full devotion one can get all their wishes fulfilled.

The Temple of Shri Banaras Tirth organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for Dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. Being situated on the bank of holy Ganga River the temple is enclosed by scenic beauty that Mesmerises and Enthrals the pilgrims. The city is at a distance of 765 Kilometers from Delhi, 565 Kilometers from Agra and 286 Kilometers from Lucknow. Taxi services and bus services are easily available here.
