It is a magnificent place which has several strikingly beautiful Hoysala temples and Jain shrines. The Hoysalesshwara temple, standing on a plateform like a casker, is a sculptural extravaganza, richly smothered with most detailed scroll work in stone, It is said in ancient time there were 720 Jain temples.
