A Personality From Media

Shri Veerendra Gohil was born on 17th July 1940 at Sironj, Distt. Vidistia of Madhya Pradesh. His father late Shri Keshrimal Jain  was renowned Freedom fighter and social worker.

He has been associated with media since last 40 years not only through employment in All India Radio but also by contributing independently in the  field of creative writing specially in sound and  visual media. He has established a record by writing & producing more than 200 National Features on various topic,  which cover practically every aspect of the human life in  society including science, art & literature etc.

He Joined A.I.R. Bhopal in 1958 as staff Artist writer producer & shifted to New Delhi in 1980 as editor and subsequently got elevated to Executive producer in  1999 to look after the National Programme of Hindi Features.

Television : Most popular in its time, Tele serial "Prahiri" (base on  BSF activities) was written by him in 89-90 & telecast on National Channel of Doordarshan. Tele film Vandana, Yeh Genga Hai (13 episode), Paridhi, Suryagrahan, Nargis, Paryavvaran etc. are his significant contributions to the visual media. Documentary Taveez is based on a story written by him.

Books : Out of 12 (Twelve) books written by him, 9 have been published & 3 are in  the pipe line. His books are versatile in  the sense that they cover spiritual philosophy in a communicative manner through the day to day experiences/incidents of the life. Vichaar Aur Chintan, Atma Chintan & Naitic Chintan ( Published By R. C. Jain, Prj Foundation Delhi & Released By Munishree Acharya Vidyanand Ji) are classified in  this category. Second category is creative diary. Third type of books are related to media like Dhwaniyon Ka Indradhanush Etc.

Reflection of Jain Values : Jain values are distinctly visible in his writings. Three Books Namely, Vichaar Aur Chintan, Atma Chintan & Naitic Chintanare specially referred which are based on Jain philosophy.  He has been included in the collection - 'Vaishalik Ki Chhaya Mein' an unique reference book for the Ahimsa Parmo Dharma, Ahimsa Ke Agradoot and outstanding Jain Hindi writers of the last century. 'Jiyo Aur Jeenedo' is the documentary written by him for National channel of Doordarshan and three other documentaries were telecasted from Jaipur, Delhi & National channel on Lord Mahavira's teachings and Jain Philosophy.

He has interviewed for tele programmes great Jain personalities like Acharya Vidyasagarji Maharaj ji, Acharya Vidyaranand ji Maharaj, Acharya Tulsi ji, Acharya Mahapragya Ji, Nagraj ji, Susheel Muni ji, Anandsagar Maunpriya ji, Aatmanand ji, Roopchand ji, & Sadhvi Nidhi ji, Roopshree Sadhana ji, etc.

Swami Shankarcharya & Chidanand Saraswati of parmarth Ris hikesh are the other  saints whom he has talked for media.

Widely traveled all over India & abroad, he made features on  Jain pilgrimages like Mahavirji, Delwada temples (Abu), Bodhgaya, Sarnath, Ranakpur,  Jain study center Ahemdabad etc. These were telecast not only on Doordarshan but also on other Channels.

Awards : 41st National Film Festival award on Taveez film. The film is based on his story. He has received 8 nos. Akashvani awards on documentary features, which is a record. His Four books have been awarded by U.P. Govt., Hindi Sansthan & Hindi Academy of Delhi.  He has been best awarded with Bhartendu Harish Chandra Maan Puraskar of Govt. of India and social organizations like P&J Foundation, National  Health & Family welfare institute have also honoured him.

Jain community is proud of such live & creative personality in the field of the media.
