Shri Shanti Kumar Jain joined the Indian Police Service in the year 1980 and was allotted to the AGMUT cadre. Prior to this, Shri Jain had also served in Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS). After completing basic training, the officer was posted as S. P. (North) and Director of Fire Services, Pondicherry in the year 1983 up to October, 1984. On promotion he was posted as S. P. Khonsa and Hqrs., Arunachal Pradesh. After successful completion of his tenure in Arunachal Pradesh, the officer was posted to Delhi Police in April 1987. He worked as Addl. DCP, South and New Delhi, DCP North West and DCP Central districts Shri Jain remained posted as DCP (Provisioning & Lines) from December 1990 to October 1991. The officer was subsequently given a very sensitive charge of FRRO, Delhi in October, 1991 till April 1997. During service, a number of terrorists, criminals and other suspects were also apprehended by the immigration under his leadership and also took initiative and deported a large number of illegal Bangladeshi migrants. He was posted as Addl. C. P. Southern Range in July 1997. In this assignment a number of steps were taken by him to put pressure on the criminals, solve the heinous crimes and improve police public relations. In recognition of his exemplary performance, devotion & dedication, he was awarded with Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Independence Day, 1998.
Shri Jain remained posted as Addl. C. P. Estt. and General Administration from June 1998 to April 1999. During his posting as Addl. C. P. Crime, a number of terrorists, hardened criminals and notorious criminal gangs were apprehended by the Crime Branch. He also supervised the functioning of Economic Offences Wing, CRO and Public Relation Branch. Thereafter, Shri Jain remained posted as DIG (Hqrs.) Mizoram Police.
In July 2000, Shri Jain was selected as DIG in Special Protection Group which is responsible to provide proximate security to the Prime Minister, former Prime Ministers and their immediate members.
Shri Jain was promoted to the rank of Inspector General, SPG in April 2002 and presently working there in the same capacity. In recognition of his exemplary performance, he was been awarded President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2005, Apart from his official assignments, Shri Jain has been taking keen part in various social and public service activities. He is associated with a number of Associations and NGOs in general and the Mahavir International in particular. He has been shouldering the responsibility of Chairman, Mahavir International, New Delhi, a voluntary charitable NGO for the last 7 years.
